Off the runway

Off the runway

The media preview is over, praise the lord. Despite re-painting my nails last night; waking up with butterflies in my tummy; taking extra care in blowing drying my hair and all that jazz because I'd be seeing one of the magazine editors today, I did not exchange a single word with her. Not a word. Zilch. Did exchange a smile though, haha. I was more comfortable sitting outside the room and chatting with Aisha instead. Don't ask me why, maybe I just didn't feel confident enough to let a conversation paint my future? Avoidance. Boy, am I the queen of avoiders!

P.s. Gowns were GORGEOUS.

hair

Deja Vu

Check out my newly highlighted hair! I finally cut the procrastinating and went ahead with it. :) I dig the results - well worth the 30 minutes I spent in humiliation with that rubbery thing stuck over my face. I swear it was like a condom for the head or something, haha!

Just got off the phone with my bitch whom many of you refer to as "your bitch" and give me a blank stare when I say "Michelle". Yes dear readers, Michelle is the name of my bitchydoo, lol.

It's cool really, how we manage to keep in touch and stay so close despite having pursued different paths for the past 3 years. Add to that the fact that the both of us are terrible with keeping friendships - we suck. Two negatives make a plus then eh? :)

I can't believe I actually called the editor of the magazine I aspire to work at to ask if she'd be attending this media preview (with champagne lunch and GODIVA chocolates darlings) on Thursday. Unfortunately she wouldn't be, but you should have seen me while I was on the phone with her! I acted as if it was a job interview, but truth is, she probably didn't even catch my name. Haha!

Will be heading out to sea for some radio thingy at the Southern islands tomorrow. Darn, I make my job sound so glamorous don't I? It's not, trust me.

Wondering about the title? It involves a dream, Bali, and someone. Go figure.

Well-rested

Back to the blogging bandwagon. I mass-uploaded the pictures last night whilst waiting for the E-registering to come on. In case you're wondering, we opted for Bali. :)

It's been a restful weekend, despite dreams that leave me feeling like I haven't slept a wink. Last night's dream was pretty though - I dreamt that clouds actually fell from the sky, and I was at the beach feeling their fluffiness just before they melted into the sea.

Spent the afternoon hanging out by the pool with CH and Kenrick, and instead of sunning it up like we usually do, most of the 3.5 hours we were there were spent frolicking in the water. I almost got coerced into doing this crazy pool jumping stunt (it's quite tame actually but I'm afraid of heights) and as much as I want to blog an entry to boast that I did it, I didn't. Too bad.

Missed out on my week? Scroll down for a pictorial spread. Jessica Simpson's boots were made for walking. My pictures were taken for talking. Enjoy.

Red bull gives you wings

Red bull gives you wings

I've given away my bottle of the caffeinated drink to Cecilia and Tuts to solve their woes of post-lunch sleepiness. Never been a fan of the drink - I don't remember ever tasting it to be honest.

The pressure to be thin. Sure, which girl won't complain about her weight, but some cases of crash dieting and low self-esteem I've seen is kinda scary. I'm sure we all have our "off" days - days when we feel ugly or fat, but to let these "off" days morph into "off" lives is scary.

Almost Forgotten Secrets

Forgotten Secrets

Late last night, a bout of creative inspiration so strong hit me, I had to forsake the idea of snuggling into bed and instead let it all out in an old diary. (I'd earlier read in FEMALE about nurturing our inner artist, so coincidence or not, I leave it to you.) I initially had the urge to write something praising love, but I got the air (and creativity) punched out of me when I flipped the book open.

Turns out that the old diary contained entries written at my lowest last year and I can't quite put into words the octave of emotions that hit me when I read through them. I was transported through a time portal back to 2004 where I saw myself bawling on the phone on the way home... crying myself to sleep... what vivid memories. What hit me harder is how I almost felt as if traces of the pain still remained, and how hard it is to actually forgive and forget, as much as I love him. But that doesn't mean I am going to stop trying to fight the grudges that remain in me.

A dear friend once taught me a lesson about "emotional baggage". That word had struck a chord, and I have even used it while preaching to Jane recently. So much has changed since November last year - friendships, relationships. One lesson I have definitely learnt is that of opportunity cost. You can't have your cake and eat it.

The above entry was entirely from the heart.

I love music videos which show beach huts, campfires and people strumming guitars. I so need a beach holiday. =)

Am still awaiting Wayne's call to leave for the filming. Yawn. These crews are never on time.

Shakira - The One

I'm back to my MTV addiction, all thanks to Yahoo Music. Now MTV ain't just available on my cable tv at home, it's available on my office laptop as well. Anyways, check this song out. It's rather sweet. The shaving legs and buying thongs parts are cute.

Shakira - The One

So I find a reason to shave my legs
Each single morning
So I count on someone
Friday nights to take me dancing
And then to church on Sundays
To plant more dreams
And some day think of kids
Or maybe just to save a little money

You're the one I need
The way back home is always long
But if you're close to me
I'm holding on
You're the one I need
My real life has just begun
Cause there's nothing like
Your smile made of sun

In a world full of strangers
You're the one I know

So I learn to cook
And finally lose my kitchen phobia
So I've got the arms to cuddle in
When there's a ghost or a muse
that brings insomnia

To buy more thongs
And write more happy songs
It always takes a little help from someone

You're the one I need
The way back home is always long
But if you're close to me
I'm holding on
You're the one I need
My real life has just begun
Cause there's nothing like
Your smile made of sun

You're the one I need
You're the one I need
With you my real life has just begun
You're the one I need
You're the one I need
Nothing like your smile made of sun
Nothing like your love
Nothing like your love
Nothing like your love.

Brown tank and white drawstring pants

Brown tank and white drawstring pants

Influenced by glitzy dressers and the need to not be so resorty in the office, I'd upped the glamour quotient of my drawstring skirt/sarong pants style. Sequins on batik here, chandelier gypsy earrings there.

Phase's over for now.

I've never felt better and more myself in my brown tank, white drawstrings and simple chunky hoops. Life's good.

Cindy Crawford makes me ache

Cindy Crawford makes me ache

I am beat. Apart from an exhausted mind that conveniently went blank while I was in the midst of churning out a release for a bridal couture launch (sounds so high-endish cool huh?), my arms, shoulders and thighs ache like there is no tomorrow. All thanks to Cindy Crawford - my personal trainer on a video.

I need some inspiration. The words are all clumped up in my head like a pile of glued-together dried leaves. Not exactly the most brilliant of descriptions, but think about it, if I could blog well, I'd jolly well have been working on the release. Yawns.

The past week has passed me by in a blur, and Jason officially booked into OCS today. I rolled out of bed at get this, 5.30 in the morning, to send him off. It's worth it I guess, considering I won't be seeing him in the next 2 or 3 weeks. And... I made it to work on time without having to take a cab! Haha. Let's hope this pattern continues for the rest of the week.

A part of me is wishing to head home for a run the minute the clock chimes 6pm, but I've got more important things to do, like a Mid Autumn celebration with my department. We've even got lanterns ready for us to walk 'round the island with. Haha!
