Mind over Body

Mind over Body

Yiling and I completed the 5.5km New Balance Real Run in 31 minutes! The terrain was pretty tough, with at least 1km on the sand. OH MY GOODNESS. We had no idea we were so fit, haha! It was really an achievement. We were one of the several "old birds" in the Women's Junior category, considering that it's under 19 as of 1 Jan 2005.

That's all I wanted to brag about actually, haha! And if you actually read my previous LOOOOONG entry, then you definitely deserve a short one this time around.

Oh yes. Please go watch Mig's performance of Baby I Love Your Way on www.rockstar.msn.com/
Go to videos, week 6... he's the eighth performer. I read his blog and he said he got all choked up thinking of his wife that he couldn't sing the last note well. Man. THAT IS SO SWEET.

Where Did I Leave My Mind?

Where Did I Leave My Mind?

Ask me to describe how work is in one word and I'll probably say "crazy", "mad", "hectic", "dying" or something with similar meaning. Preparations for a trade update party (this coming Tuesday) and the Singapore Open (7-11 September) are simultaneously ongoing, and I am involved in both. It's CRAZY really, trying to juggle my responsibilities between the two, when all I'd really like to do is to focus on the update party.

I dive straight into work upon reaching the office, and I barely have time throughout the day to fill my mug and visit the loo. Gone are the days when I checked my mail every ten seconds, praying for something to do - I am almost scared to check my email these days. The "check mail" button usually brings on a load of media requests and tasks. I feel so torn between the MILLION of tasks I have to see to, and prioritising isn't as easy as it seems. I can't wait for the update party on Tuesday to be over. It'll be a whole load off my back.

It's a little hard to keep light-hearted these days, and I am always in awe when I see how my colleagues can actually be pleasant amidst all this chaos. There's always something to learn everyday, and one thing I will definitely benefit from learning would be to keep my cool. It really ain't easy baby, but I'll try.

Enough with griping about work. I made a pasta salad for my colleagues on Tuesday, and what surprised me was that they took it upon themselves to make it into a mini-potluck in the pantry!Pat brought seaweed chicken, and Joyce brought juice. Ah. Everybody needs a little break from our hectic workload. Nothing beats having a wholesome lunch together. :)

Caught up with Marc over Mos Burger and Gelare waffles on Tuesday night, and it sure felt good to be doing/thinking of something other than work.

I attended my first yoga lesson by the "calm waters" (sorry can't help it, haha) of the ferry terminal on Wednesday evening, and guess who I saw? Mr Ram Prakash, haha! First jogging, now yoga - he's one fit-conscious lecturer. Well, I thought the first lesson was kinda boring, but the ambience was really good - doing yoga whilst the sun set. Oommmmm.

Met up with my bitch (finally) at Chinatown yesterday after work where we spent a good part of the night searching for an ethnic top (I need it for Tuesday's event). After I finally settled on this batik thingy that I think I would actually wear after the event, we sat down to what we hoped would be a good bowl of piping hot noodles, only to be sorely disappointed. Ah well. Calmed our souls with real yummy ah-balling over at the Smith Street mei shi jie. It was sooooo good to just see her and catch up over lotsa giggling, swear words and weird picture takings. Haha!

You know what's real funny? Yesterday was our (Jason and mine) second year anniversary and I spent it with my dear dear friend. NS NS... ah well, at least he got to book out today. Better a day late than two. =)

Baby, I Love your Way

Baby, I Love Your Way

Anyone watched Rock Star: INXS last Wednesday? Mig's piano rendition of Peter Frampton's Baby, I Love You Way was heartbreakingly moving. Man. Even the band agreed.
One of them said that he's usually busy thinking of what comments to give while watching the contestants perform every week, but as he was watching Mig's particular performance, he couldn't think of anything else except for how much he loves his wife.

For the curious, here are the lyrics - nothing as fantastic as the way Mig sang the song though.

Shadows grow so long before my eyes
And they're moving across the page
Suddenly the day turns into night
Far away from the city
But don't hesitate 'cuz your love won't wait

Ooh baby I love your way (everyday)
Wanna tell you I love your way
Wanna be with you night and day

Moon appears to shine and light the sky
With the help of some fireflies
I wonder how they have the power to shine, shine, shine
I can see them under the pine
But don't hesitate 'cuz your love won't wait
Ooh baby I love your way (everyday)
Wanna tell you I love your way
Wanna be with you night and day
But don't hesitate 'cuz your love won't wait

I can see the sunset in your eyes
Brown and grey and blue besides
Clouds are stalking islands in the sun
I wish I could buy one out of season
But don't hesitate 'cuz your love won't wait

Ooh baby I love your way (everyday)
Wanna tell you I love your way
Wanna be with you night and day
Ooh baby I love your way (everyday)
Wanna tell you I love your way
Wanna be with you night and day

Nobody's in the office 'cept for Ani and myself. We're blasting music for once, awesome! Haha.

It's been so hectic of late, I've decided to ditch my plan to get that top tonight for some r & r at home. Speaking of relaxing, Pat, Joyce and myself have signed up for yoga classes, organized by Sentosa of course. The first lesson's tomorrow at "by the calm waters" of the Ferry Terminal. Ommmmm. I'm finally getting a start on all my supposed fitness class plans. Been running and running of late to prep myself for this Sunday's Real Run. 5.5km might not sound intimidating to some, but it sure does to me! Yiling and I are not coveting to clinch any medals, just aiming to finish the run without stopping to walk.

Better go. Lots to do before lunch.

TGIF

TGIF

I'm lucky enough to be able to leave at 6 today.. we've got a part-timer to help out with the Singapore Open stuff, so things are relatively less hectic now. Thank goodness. I have never been happier to receive a media request. The past week has been invites, invites, invites - I feel drugged.

Running off now, Jason's booked out today! What a treat. :)

Speaking of running, I did about 5 k with Eileen on Wednesday evening. We started at Dolphin Lagoon, went all the way down to Siloso Rasa Sentosa, back to Dolphin Lagoon, down to Tanjong Beach (where we attempted running on the sand) and back to Dolphin Lagoon. WHAT A WORKOUT. My legs didn't feel like they belonged to me the next day, haha!

Okay, I'm really off now. Stretch.

All Geared Up

All Geared Up

Today's been far more relaxing than any other day in the past week. No hectic rushing of invites... no hectic nagging at other departments... no hectic mail merging... no hectic sending out of mails.. you get the idea.

Well, it's 1 minute to 6pm. Going for a run with Eileen.. less than 2 weeks to the Real Run. Ecks.

Wish me luck.

Lethargic

Lethargic

I feel like I've been zapped of every last bit of energy. Even lying down and listening to soothing Norah Jones' a chore. I pray I won't fall victim to the stomach flu virus that's been fluttering around in my home. It's definitely not the right time to fall sick, what with all the work I have awaiting me in the office. I'm bushed, seriously.

Met up with Jem yesterday. Shopped around in Queensway and Ikea before heading down to Holland Village for a little bit of inner peace at Essential Brew. It's a pretty quaint tea place, perfect for laying around and letting the afternoon slip away. Haven't met up with the dude for almost 3 months, and it'd probably be awhile till I get to see him again, what with his Canada holiday and army enlistment thereafter.
Headed down to Bugis for dinner with Fagan and Marc when Jem headed home to watch soccer. Left them to their pasta dinner whilst I shopped around Bugis Village for gems. Got myself a necklace and a pair of drawstring pants, not bad la. :) Brekos it was for drinks and a whole lot of catching up. We were SO reluctant to leave, but duty calls (at least for Marc whowas doing the 7am shift the next morning). The night was definitely a crash course on the inside of a male mind. Haha!
Jason's mom called me in the evening and asked me if I felt lonely. Guess she's missing her son. Hmm. I sure feel like something's missing not hearing from him 'cos of his field camp, but it's bearable. :) Off to a hot shower and more sleep.
