The Aussie Diaries - Melbourne Day 1
Red-eye flight = serious sleep deprivation.
Trawling the streets for some grub while we waited for our apartment to be ready. Stopping at Degraves Espresso was one of our best food decisions.
Nothing like a excellent latte to put some zing back into my step.
French toast drenched in maple syrup.
Eggs Benedict.
Looking a bit kuku as we experimented with cold weather wear - Lyn's boots came in handy as it was about 8°C when we arrived.
Streets of Melbourne - this I believe is La Trobe Street.
Il Dolce Freddo at Lygon Street for a gelato pilgrimage. I'm not a gelato fan, but it was pretty good. The pandan flavour tasted like frozen kaya.
Stopped for a really early dinner at Oggi Enoteca. Overheard a passer-by telling her friend that it's one of the best Italian eateries so I guess we made the right choice!
Awesome dense poppyseed bread served with a sticky aged balsamic vinegar and olive oil dip.
Beer battered flathead and chips.
Slow-braised Yarra Valley rabbit - yum!
We couldn't say no when we saw a San Churro, even though we were stuffed from dinner and quite about to fall asleep walking.
Not too shabby a first day in Melbourne!
