Miss Me Baby

Miss Me Baby

Miss me baby
When you hear our favourite song
Miss me baby
And when you start to sing along
Think about all the times that we danced
In the light to it all night long, oh
Then miss me baby

And want me honey
Like you did the night you told me that you loved me
We couldn't wait anymore, left the keys in the door
Took my hand, pulled me down on the kitchen floor
Yeah, we were that crazy
Miss me baby.

Why you should never attempt to blog while eating an orange.

Why you should never attempt to blog while eating an orange.
Spinning: Bic Runga - Sway / Lifehouse - Breathing
Feeling: Unglam.

"It makes so tired, I feel so uninspired. My head is battling with my heart, logic has been torn apart, and now it all turns sour, come sweeten every afternoon. Say you'll stay, don't come and go like you do. Sway my way, yeah I need to know all about you."

It's a messy messy sight. My auntie's just thrown me a buncha napkins, as if to prove my point, haha! I'm alternating between bites of orange and hammering on my keyboard with the juice dribbling down my chin. KIDDING! The dribbling bit was way exaggerated, lol.

A sudden cramp in my right calf had me jumping out of bed at six in the morning, screaming bloody murder. Did laps with Kenrick a couple of hours ago, and I would say we're a pretty good match! He's lanky and can thus cover more distance with a stroke, so that motivated to kick a little harder and move a little faster through the water, despite my twitching calf.

"Ooooh the water is cold. I. can't. feel. my. butt."
"Ahh.. ahhh... ahh..." (almost like the beginning of Leaving On a Jetplane)

How's that for injecting a little amusement to a lazy Saturday morning? That was Kenrick and I, prior to jumping into the pool. The lift at his block was down (he stays on the 24th storey, haha), so he came over to hang for awhile, and even persuaded me to complete the Calculus tutorial I had swore at before the swim.

I've been meaning to do my Edu Trip Reflection Paper since forever. I've got one and half paragraphs to date, but my gut tells me I'll be deleting the whole chunk of junk once I get my mind down to writing it right. I'd initially planned to complete it before heading down to town (my over-optimistic genes at work again), but I figured I'd better close the open word document before writer's block makes me destroy my computer. Now that would be bad.
And it's not like I expected Marc to call.. they're done with the soccer match. 4-2, I'm impressed, and proud of them.

Will be heading downtown to meet the gang in slightly under an hour. I've got to pick up a house-warming present for tonight, as well as a birthday present for my aunt. Now maybe I'd be able to do the winding down at cafe thing I'd wanted yesterday, and I'll have the rowdy guys for company instead. :)

I saw an extremely pretty, albeit useless, calendar at Borders yesterday. Snapshots of Greece. I channelled the money into getting myself a travel journal instead, so I would say that was money better spent. I can't wait for this sem to be over. I need a getaway. Pronto! Off to the showers... wardrobe crisis.

If I didn't write it down, it never happened.

If I didn't write it down, it never happened.
Spinning: Robert Downey Jr & Vonda Shepard - Chances Are
Feeling: Everything I shouldn't be feeling.

It's only been slightly over a week, but it feels like I've been bogged down by the whole CPM shit forever. Nothing could quite describe the sheer relief that filled me once we'd shown him our amended copy. We're back on track honeys.

I thoroughly relished the long bus ride to town. The sun rays slipping in through dusty windows, the familiar turn at City Hall, the lazy serenity of a Friday evening... I tried my utmost to let the intangible enjoyment seep into my bones.

Spent the next couple of hours trawling town for the many elusive perfect presents. I'd over-optimistically expected to get my shopping done within 2 hours and had even envisioned winding down at Coffee Bean with a cuppa and my notebook while waiting for Ceci. Despite her being an hour late, I was barely a quarter through my shopping when we met up, haha! So much for a quiet me-evening.

I think I've gotten too used to being called "mummy". I actually turned and almost replied with a "yes?" when I heard the teenage girl beside me. Thank goodness my reflexes weren't fast, for she was calling out for her real mummy.

The light dinner with my two girls at Coffee Club was enjoyable. We bumped into Frog, whom I know as Jason's Hospi buddy, who also turns out to be Ceci's ex-secondary-school-classmate. I'd never doubted it when people say it's a small world; I just never expected it to be this small that's all, haha. We hung out abit as he waited for the rest of the Hospi guys to come down for their drinking session. Us girls took the (slightly) healthier alternative and went in search of dessert, lol.

"The other line always moves faster until you join it." Got this off a book of quotes. How true. I always seem to choose the slowest-moving lines, haha! Moral? Never ever queue up with Leigh.

--

A friend got her heart bruised today. Though she tried her damnest to deny that she'd let him get to her, I could see the truth reflected in those eyes. All I could offer was a hug, and to stroke her hair.

Clarity in the morning.

Clarity in the morning.

It's a rainy day. Snuggling under the covers seemed like a good alternative till the call came. It seems like my barely-awoken voice always takes your breath away. The change in your tone gave you away.

Such emotion. Such possession.

If I Kissed You

If I kissed you
Would you lose track of time
Would you feel a surge of happiness
Running up your spine
Would you run naked in the street with a tattoo of my name on your behind
If I kissed you.

Blooming buds and purple-tinged petals.

Blooming buds and purple-tinged petals.

Aren't these pretty?

Changing out of my jeans and slipping into my shorts, I scrubbed my face and crawled into bed. The late afternoon sun rays peered through my window, casting shadows on my resting form. It was just at sunset that I awoke, fresher, like a blooming flower bud.

Last night's sleep was clouded with dreams. Visiting a colonial building with renowned Nonya food; taking Tiger Airways to Bangkok only to find out that the airplane had morphed into a bus... such adventures in dreamland made me feel like I'd barely slept a wink. It's therefore no surprise that the urge to nap engulfed me on my bus ride home.

Whenever stress hits, I get the urge to either bake or write songs. I shared Square Room with my piano teacher this morning, and here's what she said.
"I'm impressed. I can never do what you do with the piano. You know what, you should keep writing songs whenever you're stressed and stop baking me cookies."
I don't know whether to be flattered, of insulted, haha!

Human perceptions baffle, yet at the same time, intrigue me.
"She had a reason for doing those nails."
What is your interpretation of the above statement?
a. She's painting her nails 'cos she's got a hot date.
b. She's painting someone else's nails 'cos she's a manicurist to earn a living.
c. Others
Please share with me. :)

Just had my simple but wholesome dinner of veggie soup with rice. It's my auntie's birthday this coming Monday and the famous Khoo dilemma - deciding where to go for birthday treats, has just been solved by Daddy dearest. Some eatery at Purvis Street. Hmm. We'll see on Sunday. :)

Instant Coffee Day.

Instant Coffee Day.

It's been a day of emotions-all-in-ones, thus the title. I'm glad I started my day with a swim. Nothing quite beats the feeling of gliding through the silk-like water, coming up for air, and feeling the morning sunshine on my face. So much for staying out of the sun huh? I did slap on my SPF23 sunblock though, haha!

My carefree bliss then gave way to anger. Whilst Yvonne and I were reaching the 4m deep end, 2 guys (who obviously know we were there) dived in and stayed under, making us swim over their submerged bodies. Their lecherous intentions were kinda clear, and I thought it extremely rude. I'm mortified. Oh well, that got me all fired up and I finished my last lap in 3/4 my usual time, so that's what I call looking on the bright side, haha.

CPM meeting next. Whilst we didn't quite achieve what we had intended too, I thoroughly enjoyed the stimulating debate we had towards the end. I love brains. :) Satisfaction.

Amusement preceded the next 4 hours. I fear I spend more time laughing at my Calculus tutor's antics than absorbing what he has to teach, but I can't help it. For a brief interlude, I was filled with frustration at myself when Jeremy Sim messaged to announce that I had cleanly forgotten to add my performance appraisal form in my portfolio. Stupid me.

Dubai/Macau/Contiki presentations in lecture thereafter. I don't know if Stewart inherited his new sense of humour from France, but it was a good 2 hours of belly-aching laughter. Amusement gave way to betrayal tinged anger for awhile, which I'm glad I'm over with now. My rollercoaster ride of a school day ended with a hell lotta frantic flipping of notes during the mock test in French lecture.

Let's recap. Bliss -> Mortification -> Satisfaction -> Amusement -> Frustration -> Anger -> Panic.
Quite a feat huh?

I've realised that my inspiration to write songs comes when I get stressed. I like my latest - Square Room. :)

The chilli padi speaks.

The chilli padi speaks.

If the Monday blues symptom really exists, then I sure got it bad today. I was one angsty chilli padi the whole morning, and my zippy pre-lesson gym session did little, if not nothing, to soothe the frustration. What it is exactly I'm frustrated over, I don't know.

Through sms
J: Maybe you can do your quiet thing.
L: What quiet thing?
J: The one where you retreat into yourself for ten seconds whenever you're angry.

I wasn't even aware he noticed. Comments like these blow me away - kinda make me realise Jason ain't as lost in his own world as he seems to be, haha.

The foul mood dissolved as the day passed though, and I was pretty much settled by the time I headed back to Sentosa for the meeting. What I hadn't quite expected was the sense of longing that hit me as I hopped on the yellow line down the familiar route to the office, and walking into the Communications department like I used to every weekday till a month ago. Seeing Ani again doubled the joy, I couldn't resist flinging myself into his arms. Pity I missed Robin and Pat! I miss the island, quite badly in fact.

The meeting went rather well, and I felt that it helped clear many prior doubts. I sorta feel like a load's been lifted off my shoulders. Had a quick tea and cake session with Ceci after she knocked off at Coffee Club, before heading home to an indulgent 1 hour of Nora Roberts. I'm done with the MacKades! Romance novels always make me feel that little light-headed.

Time for bed - have got a swimming date at 9.45 in the morning. Lessons stretch all the way till 7 tomorrow.. Am sure gonna need the energy boost! :)

Today's bus ride was inspiring. This urge inside me compelled me to pick up my pen and start scribbling on my notepad, and I not only wrote a blog entry (see previous post) but the lyrics to a full song in lightning time as well. I'm feeling rather accomplished!

It was Holland V. tonight. Essential Brew was first, and that was where I bumped into Irene, Christina and Jillyan from CoffeeBean. God, has it been 3 years already? Wala Wala it was next with Ceci, Karin, Jason, his army mate Daniel, and Daniel's friend Daniel. Is it getting too complicated yet? Hahaha.

It was a good night. Lotsa drinks, laughter and catching up. Army Daniel's mimicking of his own dance moves cracked me up real bad. Pictures soon, I promise. Martini's got me sleepy. Night world.

Play of light.

Blogging through paper - here's my entry straight off the bus.

Play of light.
1550 hrs. On the bus.

It's funny how the play of light can change the way a place looks, the way it feels, and the feelings it evokes. I'm on the bus now, passing through the same stretch of road I was strolling just last night in the cool drizzle. The carefree romanticism of dark roads and cool rain has given way to the peaceful serenity of a Saturday afternoon.

The bus is weaving through Little India now. Its people, eateries and throngs of sunglass-wearing tourists remind me of Dubai. Was it only a week ago?

Amidst the logical facade, I surprise myself with unexpected, uncalculated rash moves. It's amazing how strong my resolve can be when I put my mind to something, no matter how ridiculously inappropriate it is.

At the same time, it is also humanely humbling to realise that my resolve can weaken so easily without so much a gentle nudge. I like to think it was the rain.

I wonder how I'll feel tomorrow.

Catch a falling raindrop.

Catch a falling raindrop.

What are the odds that you'll walk right into a place you'd conjured up in your mind some time ago? The screening room at Cosy Canape was uncannily similar, so despite the strange deja vu, I felt very much at home.

Had a nice long stroll in the drizzle, amidst the Christmas fairy lights. Each drop of rain on my bare shoulders seemed to take a little of the week's tension along with it as it evaporated. It might as well have been snowing, if I imagined hard enough. Caught up in the winter imagery, I stuck my tongue out to catch a falling raindrop.

The smartest thing I probably can do right now is to stop thinking and indulge in some more of Nora Roberts' romantisicm. I intend on getting work done tomorrow.

  • Watch Amelie (I'm hoping to be inspired by the French)
  • Figure my project out

A push in the right direction. Maybe a shove.

A push in the right direction. Maybe a shove.
Feeling: Uninspired
Spinning: Bounce OST

I'm glad I chucked my work aside for frog porridge dinner/supper last night with Mr. Cat. It felt good to be away from it all, even if it was only for that few hours. Despite wanting to start things on a good note following yesterday's near-disastrous consultation, this morning's meeting drained me, and Dawn too I believe. I hate the way I'm moping right now.

The "crashing down from heaven to hell" effects from Tuesday's phonecall have worn off but a whole new set of challenges lies in its wake. I feel like we've got everything, yet at the same time nothing, and all is just one huge tangled blob I don't have the energy to tackle yet.

Bailed from my initial plan to read through my lecture notes before French tutorial for a quickie at the gym. The energy boost was short-lived though. Today's lesson was a killer for most of the class, and to think they attended the lecture that I missed whilst in Dubai.
We had some laughs though, like when Jerome attempted teaching us the Happy Birthday song in French. I suddenly felt like I was watching a French film about an untalented student in the choir, with my tutor playing the lead of course. ROFL.

Paid an aimless visit to the library post-French. Running my fingers through the endless rows of books, spotting familiar titles and refreshing new ones, did something to ground my scattered thoughts. I left with a Nora Roberts paperback and a book on French food tales. It was in the former that I seeked solace in on my hour-long journey home.

It's been awhile since I'd indulged in one of Roberts' predictable but nonetheless heartstrings-tugging stories. The "bookful" of cliches I expect each time I begin her novels almost always metamorphasizes into a treasure trove of romantic gems. This one was no exception. I expect I'll be sucked into the town of Antietam, into the world of the McKade brothers in no time, to the point of no return till I reach the end of the novel.

The nap I took this evening has sure left me energetic. I vaguely remember lounging on my bed with a magazine, telling Ceci about wanting a Bali getaway. Before I knew it, it was 8 in the night. 1.5 hours worth of nap-time. Quite a feat Leigh. :)

--

The Christmas month officially started today, and I'm totally feeling it. It doesn't quite matter that a pile of unfinished work is waiting to overwhelm - my Christmas cheer ain't dampening. I can't wait to start hunting down the perfect presents and baking/cooking up a storm. Since we're at the topic, let me share my 2 cents' worth on Christmas.

1 Christmas present you will never receive from me - Soft toys (unless you're my 4-year old cousin).

1 Christmas present people may deem thoughtless but I may give nonetheless - Chocolates. Nothing like the season for giving to share my ultimate love, no?

1 Christmas tradition I have kept the past 3 years - Baking cookies. I'm no Mrs. Fields wannabe, but remember, my cookies are baked with LURVE.

1 mistake I make every Christmas - Over-buying and under-sending Christmas cards.

1 thing I like most about Christmas presents - Wrapping them.

1 favourite memory from past Christmas-es - 2001: Poring over The Body Shop Christmas Gift Guide while simultaneously yakking away to my bitch over the phone in the wee hours of the morning. Goodness, has it been 4 years already?

1 dish I have yet to have at a Christmas meal: Turkey. So much for embracing Christmas, haha.

1 Christmas dish I have yet to try: Christmas pudding.

Enough. I feel compelled to go grab myself a turkey and pudding right this moment.
