My pink bicycle and lemon sorbet.

My pink Signora and lemon sorbet.

I've been meaning to revisit the riding skills I picked up two years ago under the tutelage of Jins and Jared. My new pink bicycle will allow me to do just that in the privacy of the multi-storey carpark, away from embarrassing stares I'm certain I'll get at public parks. And did I mention it comes with a basket?

Excuse me while I attempt to stay upright and eat lemon sorbet at the same time...

Daydreams.

Daydreams.

picture from inmagine

It's been awhile since I've yearned to take a catnap on a hammock or to snuggle up in bed watching Love Actually. Granted, it has been awhile since I've been this busy with work, FYP commitments and that darn PI report but the crunch should be over soon. See you on the other side. ;)

Sleeping to dream.

Sleeping to dream.

The chilly dawn breeze against my bare legs stirred me from sleep. I fumbled to check that I hadn't snoozed my alarm, reached down blindly to pull the comforter up to my chin, then slipped easily back to slumber.

The boisterous chatter of a crowded lounge. The muted silence that sets in when every cell in your body is immensely aware and anticipating. The apprehensive whisper of fingertips through the delicate partition against my face steady into a roaming caress. The roaring pounding of my heart in my chest.

Too weird! I've spent the entire day feeling like I've got my head in my clouds. Warped. Seriously, seriously warped. Seriousleigh.

Bali dreaming.

Bali dreaming.

Spoke to Desi in class earlier today, and she was telling me all about how gorgeous Lombok was. FYI, Lombok is an island near Bali, but comparatively untouched by tourism. I have my mind set on making a side trip there when I head to Bali in December. My Bali dream is all I have to keep me going through the subsequent days of too much writing, readings, churning out way too many essays, and the dreaded exams.

I'm exhausted, and in horrible need of a nap before my new piano class tonight. Having school from 9 a.m. till 8:30 p.m. is no joke, even with the ridiculous 6.5-hour break between. After a late dinner with CH at one of the prata shops outside after class last night, it was 10:45 p.m. when I finally trudged back home, weighed down by my Macbook and one too many texts. 10 more weeks of this, bless me.

Plonking in bed and falling asleep with my dinner hardly digested proved the old wives' tale of dreaming on a full stomach true. I spent the night dreaming that B and I were exchange students who were housed in a bungalow, and I was getting all jittery waiting for him to confess his love and adoration as he was going back to France that very day. It's almost as ridiculous as the dream he had of us hiding in a tree-house from the MICA director and eloping to Goa. Haha.

I'm a little nervous about tonight as I'll be teaching an older Caucasian lady who though having learnt piano for nine years when she was younger insists that she's in it for leisure. Don't even get me started on the embarrassingly bad state of my piano, which I've neglected since passing my Grade 8 practical exam yonks ago.

How glad am I that tomorrow's the last day of the school week for me, and that there is no Organizational Communications lecture thanks to Union Day? A late start and a movie date with the Spottiswoode boys after class. Need to unwind!

Santorini dreaming.

Santorini dreaming.
music: jason mraz ft. colbie caillat - lucky

A good part of my Sunday was spent lazing around with my prize find in the library - Marlena de Blasi's A Thousand Days in Venice, and finally getting down to watching The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. The only thing that saves me from being a slob is the 30-minute run I fit in this morning before my 10:30 a.m.piano class.

A good part of the movie was shot in Greece, and oh boy, do I want to go there!

I want to go to Santorini
but I've got no money.

If only rhyming made me rich.
And if you are even wondering why...

Island daydreams.

Island daydreams.
feeling: nasal

It's just past noon India time and I'd ideally still be in bed if I didn't have to be here in copywriting class. One too many nights of pictionpornary (check out Erwin's blog for my masterpiece) and tarot readings have once again led to me operating on 5.5 hours of sleep per night, and coupled with the cold/cough that wouldn't go away, my body's officially screwed.

Nothing at all related to writing's been covered thus far, and I've been idly surfing resort websites.

Daydreams are made of these. Get me on the next flight to Mexico, dear imagination.

Was it meditation or hypnosis?

Was it meditation or hypnosis?
feeling: refreshed
music: john mayer - dreaming with a broken heart

Thanks to Erwin, I finally have the full John Mayer's Continuum album playing on my iTunes.

My ability to fall straight asleep has eluded me these couple of weeks. There was my very annoying yo-yo decision making mechanism when it came to adding and dropping subjects, the tedious process of drafting GIP and INSTEP applications, and the endless surfing of university websites. I think I've become a bit of a control freak when it comes to the use of my free time, and this kinda explains my need to know my schedule in advance, and my absolute inflexibilty to last-minute changes. That ain't too good I know, but I don't quite know what to do about it.

I was really looking forward to a good stretch after the past tedious days and that very day's disappointing driving lesson, but Wednesday's yoga session left me feeling more frazzled than calm. The instructor was 20 minutes late, then proceeded to lead us in an hour of hurried poses that had the class bursting into peals of frustrated laughter. We're no gymnasts, and that was no hatha yoga. His heart wasn't in it, and that ruined the session from the start.

What was weird was the meditation session after yoga. After a couple of deep breaths in lotus pose, we were asked to expel our breaths forcefully for 30 times. I googled it, and I think it's called Kapalabhati. 3 rounds of that left me a little lightheaded, and we were then asked to lie on our mats and relax. The instructor/guru then started bringing us back in time. "You are 20 years old, trying to achieve balance in your professional and personal life... you are 15.... you are 10..."

I thought I nodded off a couple of times, and that I dreamt about the things that had been keeping me awake the past week - exchange choices, practicum choices and all. In the last "dream", I was in the driver's seat like I had been earlier that afternoon, when a car cut in front of me without warning. Adrenaline rushed through me and I jerked, both in the carseat as well as mentally. And poof, my mind was clear.

I told my auntie about it later that night, and she asked if he hypnotised us. I'm not sure now...

Speaking of dreams, I finally succumbed to replenish my deprived rest this afternoon. And guess what I dreamt of during my four-hour nap, if you can even call it a nap? That Lifehouse was having an announced 5-song set just beneath my block, right on the middle of the road. And I scrambled to dress and hurried down, only to share a lift with Jason Wade and his bemused drummer, who looks oddly like Yoji from Miami Ink. Haha!
