Love knows no boundaries

Love knows no boundaries

Spending an afternoon away from work was a much desired indulgence and an hour in the sun made all the difference. I've really missed the beach - the lulling tune of the waves lapping against the shore, the salt-tinged sea breeze, the heat from the brilliant sun... even the grains of sand sticking to my lotioned skin.

After that intriguing conversation we had the other night, Jason and I seem to be communicating on a deeper level as compared to before. I'm further intrigued.

Headed down to the Nokia Starlight Cinema over at Padang in the night to catch A Lot Like Love. The event wasn't held at Fort Canning like it was last year, but the atmosphere was great nonetheless. Anyone watched The Wedding Planner starring J Lo? There were two scenes showing her watching an outdoor black&white movie and yesterday's setting was almost like it!

Apart from the romantic flick playing on screen, it was great to see the many couples cuddled up on their mats. I said to Jason, "I feel so happy to be in the presence of love." A bit cheesy maybe, but totally true.

There was a lesbian couple in front of us, a gay couple to Jason's right and a couple intent on PDA (public display of affection) behind us. I was really touched to be in the presence of the homosexual couples actually, for I bet it took them a hell lot of courage to be present at an event where heterosexual couples were the majority.

Love definitely knows no boundaries, and I toast to that.

Succumbing to the warmth

Succumbing to the warmth

It's 11.20am right now.. less than an hour before I can leave this cold cold office to frolick in the warmth of the sun. I'm getting half a day off in return for my hours of OT. Splendid! I haven't been to the beach on a weekday ever since I started on my internship. You can never imagine my frustration when I see hoards of school kids prancing to the beach during the June and September school vacations.

Speaking of which, it's about 6 weeks before I get to return to school! I can't wait. "I'm ready to go back to school," were my exact words when I bumped into Mr. Joseph, Mr. Nair and Mr. Neo at the Sky Tower yesterday.

Work's okay, but getting mundane. Been feeling a little un-challenged of late. Perhaps the sanity of office life has paled in comparison to the past few insane weeks of the Singapore Open and the IOS party. I am never contented am I? Haha. I wouldn't be surprised if I turn out to be a future job-hopper. My insatiable appetite to be infinitely intrigued always gets in my way.

Intrigued. It was pretty much an understatement during my conversation with Jason last night, when he revealed the intricate complexities of his mind. Perhaps I was enraptured. I don't know, but I don't think I'll be able to look at him in the same light anymore. I remember blogging my first entry in my previous blog (http://intrigue_me.blogspot.com) about how I envisioned ending up with someone who can keep me infinitely intrigued.
I think I've found him.

When pigs cross roads

When pigs cross roads

In the midst of sharing a really good joke with my colleagues (director's not around), our CEO walked into the department and asked us, "why, is the day over yet? -insert director's name- must not be around then." Thank goodness he has a sense of humour, lol.

Turns out one of the guys who were charged with racist blogging is a friend of my colleague. What a small world. I'd better start watching my tongue (fingers) around here.

And they call it puppy love

And they call it puppy love

I was reading the blog of a younger friend, and I actually scoffed at the naivity of her "I miss my sweetheart 'cos he hasn't called me for ten minutes" entries. I pulled Jason to the computer and said, "Oh my god, read this, can't stand it right!" He scanned the entry, then went, "Aiyah, puppy love ma."

Goodness. When in the span of our 2-year-plus courtship have we become so jaded?

Though I don't remember us ever being THAT infatuated as my young friend currently is (correct me if I am wrong my faithful blog readers), I am sure we both are guilty of a few mush-filled declarations that have made others puke (and ourselves cringe), earlier on in our courtship.

That said, I am not implying that our feelings for each other have faded over time. The scales of passion (haha spoken like a true-blue Libran) have merely been tipped. Our love has intensified in a way such that it grounds us, bringing us down from the
fluffy clouds of infatuation to the reality of possibly spending the next sixty years of our life together.

To illustrate:
We would rather spend $70 watching 5 week-day movies, than blow it on a romantic dinner at a restaurant. And contrary to couples doing stuff together, we separate upon reaching the mall, me to the shops and himself to the arcade.

But that doesn't mean we love each other any less! Marc told me I made the most touching comment of the century (that weren't his exact words actually, haha) during one of our conversations. He apparently (no recollection whatsoever on my side) asked me what my idea of a perfect man was, and I said, "Hmmm. Jason lor."

I never knew I was a subconscious romantic.

family

To go with the poem, here's a picture I took of a family at East Coast Park, September 11 2005.

If I Knew

If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly and pray to the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word, so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time, I could spare an extra minute or two,
I'd stop and say "I love you," instead of assuming, you would know I do.

If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more, so I can just let this one slip away?

For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight,
And we always get a second chance to make everything right.

There will always be another day to say our "I love you's",
And certainly there's another chance to say "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you and I hope you never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance you get, to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day.

That you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss,
Because you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be a last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today, and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them, and that you'll always hold them dear.

Take time to say "I'm sorry," "please forgive me," "thank you" or "it's okay,"
And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.
