Does anybody know the way to Atlantis?

Does anybody know the way to Atlantis?
feeling: smothered
music: jason mraz - i'm yours

Took myself to the beach in the afternoon. Sat by the waters for a good three hours in the company of my solitude, letting the sun warm my skin and tapping my feet to the beat of my music. Behind dark glasses, I enjoyed the psychological anonymity of being just another figure in the sea (pun not intended) of faces. Words and lyrics surfaced from my hours with myself, but I'd stupidly forgotten to pack my notebook along.

Dinner and catching up with my bitch in the night. We sure had lots to talk about, considering how we haven't spoken in months. But I like how it always feels like we've just met up the day before, no matter how much we've grown and changed as individuals over time.

Was really tempted by Vincent's offer to join them for a drink at Villa Bali when he came by to pick her up, but here I am at home prepping for tomorrow's filming. Writing love letters in braille. Not as easy peasy as I'd expected.

Off to travel the world in my sleep. I'm so gonna have to roll myself outta bed for my morning run. Night world.

Cold logic.

Cold logic.
feeling: enlightened
music: jason mraz - i'm yours

An impromptu poolside swim. Got an unexpected tan and a sunburnt nose. An impromptu meetup with a good friend. Managed to catch a performance by Just Be (a local accapella group) by the Esplanade Waterfront. Really enjoyed it. Goofy antics by a group of extremely talented singers.

And then we sat by the river
Looking out to city lights
Minutes grew into hours
And time slipped out of sight

"Distance has no way of making love understandable". It does. Maybe not in understanding love, but perhaps in understanding life and the choices we have to make. Cold logic.

"We can have popcorn
And start watching porn
So we don't get born
Out of a lover's scorn"

Just came up with that popcorn nonsense with Jem. He's convinced I should go into rapping. ROFL. Yo yo check it out, Jemo yea Jemo's in da house.

Close the curtains.

Close the curtains.
feeling: mixed-up; zonked.
music: jason mraz - i'm yours

I've always wondered how people got by without sleep. Excluding the quick 15-minute shut-eye while waiting for my lunch kakis and a 30-minute catnap before zipping out to meet Charmain, I've gone on without sleep for almost 40 hours. Golly. My body's entered a state of mistaken hyperactivity. I think it's time for a shutdown.

The unexpected expected happened today. A cocktail of potent emotions' coursing through me, waiting to take control. Maybe it'll all hit me tomorrow.

Did we do the right thing? I don't know, but time will tell. It ain't fair to keep up the charade. Not when we know the impending finale. And not when I'm having lesser and lesser time for dress rehearsals.

The play may be over, but the essence of the script remains. Maybe one day, we'll stage a comeback.

Songs from an empty stomach.

Songs from an empty stomach.
feeling: ravenous
music: michelle branch - it's you

I haven't been able to think ever since I started my university term. Everything seems superficial, and I've seemingly lost my ability to critique and to look beneath the surface of things. Or could it be that I've always been fluffy without knowing it? I'd like to give myself a bit more credit than that though.

There are people around me, but I'm kinda in my own world until the gang's done with their filming. Could that be why friends have commented that I haven't been myself of late? "You're here, but not quite here," was something along the lines of what Charmain said I think.

I'm just more zonked than usual perhaps. Operating on four hours of sleep for successive days has become a hard habit to break. I don't quite fancy feeling like I'm about to fall over any minute though. And I'm running away from a decision overdue.

Currently waiting for the gang to finish their filming assignment before we head out for food. It's kinda refreshing sitting over here alone at the CS benches. It's been awhile since I've had the chance to be really alone. I love the company of people, but too much of a good thing is never good ain't it? I was just musing to LM that it'd only be a matter of time before the gang gets sick of one another's company. Till then, we'll just milk it I guess, haha.

Life isn't always a beach holiday. Or rather, I shouldn't always take life as I would a beach holiday. Laidback. Fuss-free. No expectations. Too idealistic really. Aren't the dynamics of friendship strange? Shan't ponder. Time to go.

Getting my act together.

Getting my act together.
feeling: decisive

After weeks of floundering like a fish out of water, the decision's finally come to me. (Though why when I'm half-dead trying to complete my assignment I do not know.) Did I really need that pathetic excuse to spur me on? Perhaps.

Blindly and aimlessly groping my way through it all just doesn't quite cut it anymore.

I see the most gorgeous sunsets through the glass roof in my hall. One day, I'll go up on the rooftop to take it all in. One day, before the beauty loses its allure. Even blogging this can be seen as procrastination.

Let's hope I stick this through.

Wise men say.

Wise men say.
feeling: zonked
music: richard marx - can't help falling in love

Sneaking in a quick post before I surrender to the allure of starting on my assignment, which is due at noon tomorrow by the way. Sitting around on wooden benches watching people go by, attempting to get my thoughts together - not productive. And so to the pool I went for abit of an escape. Reality beckons.

Yesterday's run with the girls was good. Something extremely empowering in ignoring my glutes' call for help and conquering those darn hills.

Sing & Strum auditions last night. As I was sharing with a few people, singing's always been a private pleasure. It doesn't matter how good or bad I really sound, as long as I sound good enough to myself. It was thus extremely intimidating to have to stand in front of a panel and be told on how bad/good I am. I think I did fine, but the jitters were...

I'd better get started on that darn piece of writing. Have got dance at 6:30, so that leaves me with barely 45 minutes to get it done. 1,2, cha cha cha.

Beware the tail.

Beware the tail.

It's kinda surreal sitting here in my room munching on bread and sipping tea when the rest of the world's in class. It's a naughty pleasure.

The one hour of sleep I had last night, not a very restful one at that, was barely enough to tide me through this morning's journalism lecture. And so I figured I'd skip the next three hours of lectures instead of getting pissy at everyone. Hah. It's amazing what a 1.5 hour siesta can do.

I have so many things to say, but my random thoughts are all jumbled up.

Wear sarong pants/skirt not poofy skirt. I can't possibly explain how odd it felt on Saturday night.

Time to rejoin the world back in tutorial.

Rethinking Wonderland.

Rethinking Wonderland.
feeling: sleepy
music: evan and jaron - crazy for this girl

Paparazzi - The version of Alice in Wonderland staged by our very own CS seniors was really really good. At least to me and Charmain. I'm inspired to rewatch the cartoon.

Coffee at Starbucks with the gang thereafter. Doesn't anyone eat bagels with cream cheese and strawberry jam??? The whole savoury and sweet logic doesn't really apply 'cos I'll rebutt you with "don't you eat sweet and sour fish?"

I'm sleepy. I'll do a more comprehensive postmortem of the play should the mood strike tomorrow. Night world.

Winds blow, skirts fly.

Winds blow, skirts fly.
feeling: recharged
music: the feeling - love it when you call

It's almost one. On usual weekends, I'd be showered, fed and ready for abit of work. I'm now all sweaty from my run, unshowered obviously, and unfed. Gonna get my coffee once I'm done with this quick post. (So much for getting off caffeine, hah.) But into the shower I must go first... lol.

Little Ms. Green Ceci has reminded me of this impromptu rap we came up with last night, after stuffing ourselves silly with chocolate cake.
Me: "Oh my God I think I'm high."
Ceci: "Oh shit I think my skirt's gonna fly."

Say it out loud in the hip hop gangsta way, with apt timing. Enjoy.

Ipanema exists.

When she walks she's like a samba.
feeling: carefree (almost)
music: bossanova - one note samba/girl from ipanema

Listening to the chillout cds Ceci passed me earlier. This BossaNova one I'm playing's reminiscent of Jazz by the Beach, and the other Arabic Lounge cd reminds me of both Ambrosia at Arab Street as well as the desert safari in Dubai. My mind's already going on holiday way before I can extricate myself from this urban hum-drum.

The dust has settled a bit for now with the two quizzes over. Two deadlines to be met this coming week before I allow myself to breathe a little easier. Lugged my barang barang back after a McDonald's breakfast and promptly fell asleep for a good three hours. That explains why I'm up right now (1:31 a.m.) with barely a yawn and not a drop of coffee in my body. I would have sworn a look of panic crossed Ceci's face when I answered "no" to her "have you had your coffee fix today?"

Am I really a monster when I don't get my coffee?

Paparazzi, this CS staged play (I think) tomorrow. Meeting the gang for dinner at Fisherman's Wharf first. Yum. How I've missed that shophouse eatery. (: Time to do abit of work I think. Hopefully I'll get enough done to warrant me enough time to meet Charmain earlier for a quick chillout before dinner.

Totality.

Totality.
feeling: relieved
music: the feeling - fill my little world

With a foreign love song playing on my ipod, as bus 179 wound its way on slippery roads past an empty construction site that resembled those I saw in Phuket and Bintan, I could almost make-believe I was on one of my getaways. Everything else, the crowds on the bus, fatigue, thoughts of my unfinished prepping for tomorrow's quiz, faded away. For that moment in time, it was just me and the world on pause. Such unexpected moments really make life worth living.

A conversation about music I had with a new friend last night has given me some new insight. Compare a song about pain with a song about joy. Chances are the former will come across as deeper and more emotive. This is probably so as the writer'd have to dig deeper in his soul for words to express pain, which sometimes can be intangible. Happy songs are really... just happy. And I write happy songs. Could that be why I feel fluffy? When in actual fact I am just happy?

Prepping for tomorrow's Introduction to Communication Studies quiz has seemingly robbed me of my ability to communicate.

On an entirely different note, I've been craving a good dinner out all week. Nice ambience, good food, good company. Stress makes me want to de-stress. Meeting my favourite babe for a long overdue catch-up (it's our excuse to try out the many places we have on our list really haha) tomorrow at New York New York. Hopefully it wouldn't be so crowded we'd have to move our dinner to Raffles City. Which really isn't a bad idea actually come to think of it. Have yet to really check out the many new eateries that have sprouted up during its revamp. The cons of living on Pulau NTU indeed.

Time for bed. Night world.

Oh for crying out loud!

Oh for crying out loud!
feeling: sleepy, romantic
music: christian bautisa - the way you look at me

Dance was really really fun. Today's lesson was an add-on to last week's basic cha-cha moves and it had YH and I fumbling quite abit, myself at the turns especially. However, the more complicated the steps got, the more fun I had. Maybe I just enjoy laughing at myself. Haha. Who would have expected an hour-long dance session to leave us drenched (okay I'm exaggerating...) in perspiration?

A msn update from my dance partner has confirmed that he had as much fun as I did. "Eh, you're not gonna quit dance right?" Yay! We're gonna cha-cha our way through the school term.

Dinner at Canteen 2 with the usual gang post-dancing. I wonder if the day I'll go "urgh" instead of collapse into gastronomical orgasm whenever I take a bite of the chocolate waffle ever come. I think I've got an addiction.
Anyway, all that talk about first dates had me reminiscing, and wondering. My ideal first-date scenario has changed quite abit over the years, but that said, I think Jason and I had a pretty good first date. It ought to have been good enough to have morphed into our three years worth of many more dates no?

First dates. Hmm. The panic. The anticipation. The wardrobe crisis. The expectations. The butterflies in the tummy. I've kinda missed all that. But as the boyfriend constantly pips, there can only be so much excitement in our lives. True, but...

Anyway, yesterday's Fosters dinner was smashing. I kinda spoilt the surprise by calling the birthday girl (I dumbly didn't realise that it was supposed to be a surprise), but my folly's been forgiven. What followed was a good three-hour dinner cum catch-up cum journalism debate. I thoroughly enjoyed the latter, and it kinda made me realise how much I've learnt in a matter of weeks.

On the topic of journalism, I think I'm done prepping for tomorrow's quiz. It's only 10 multiple choice questions, but as Daphne pointed out, it makes it easier to flunk. Oh well. I did quite abit of reading by the pool earlier, it's late, I'm sleepy, and there's only so much information my brain can take.

Time for bed. Nighty night world.

Bad timing.

Bad timing.

I am always filled with an urge to blog at times when I should be studying, revising, or doing my project work. And the urge to bang on my piano keys strikes too, sometimes.

I'm really looking forward to Holland Village later. Being stuck on, as my friends like to call it, Pulau NTU sure fires my appetite to be out of this whole Jurong civilisation. And yes, I chose jeans over the sarong skirt. Lotsa walking to and fro for classes today, so I figured that the last thing I wanted to worry about was a crinkled skirt.

I'm not making much sense am I? In the midst of 108 lab by the way. Final Cut puts me to sleep. Over and out.

Dating Mister Moon.

Dating Mister Moon.
feeling: knotted-up

It's a busy busy week ahead. With so much to do, I can only hope that I'll be able to escape to my poolside retreat on one of the afternoons. I told myself I'd head to bed before midnight... but it's already past one. Ecks. My attempts to correct my gone-wrong sleeping habits are obviously futile.

I'm obssessing over the most trivial of things right now - sarong skirt or jeans for tomorrow? I feel like a cross between Monica and Phoebe in F.R.I.E.N.D.S - Monica 'cos she's so neurotic and Phoebe 'cos she's just plain... weird. And if you're wondering why I'm stressing out on my wardrobe choice, it's because I'm meeting the gossip girls at Fosters after classes for Kelly's belated birthday dinner! I'm elated really 'cos I get to see my girls, and I finally get to go to Holland Village. Heh.

My neck and shoulders are all tight and knotted-up. Too much computer work, says me. Oh yes, my run was fantastic. Pushed myself quite abit while having Accidentally in Love on repeat. Contemplating another session when I get back from dinner tomorrow, but I have a feeling I'll be stuffed. We'll see.

Time for a good snooze. Night world, night Mr. Moon.

Interlude.

Interlude.
feeling: hopeful
music: emma bunton - take my breath away

I had changed into my running gear and was just about to slip on my socks when a huge gray cloud masked the once sunny sky. In the span of time it took me to walk to the window for a closer look and for my mouth to stop hanging open in disbelief, rain fell. First a drizzle, then a shower. Passing cloud, I told myself. I refuse to be made to forgo my run, not when my body's not procrastinating.

Serves me right for waking up a good two and a half hours past my 7:30a.m. alarm. I was flipping through this PAP 50th Anniversay book Jason borrowed for me (really quite a sweet gesture to educate his history-idiot of a girlfriend), fully expecting it to put me to sleep. It wasn't so interesting that it kept me up for hours, but it was quite readable actually. Singapore history is starting to make that little bit more sense.

Passing cloud's passed, haha. The sun's out in all its glory, which means it's time for me to strap on my running shoes. Till laters.

P.s. Emma Bunton's Take My Breath Away has been on constant replay mode in my head, and I have no idea how it got onto my mental playlist.

The secret of the world is written in the stars.

The secret of the world is written in the stars.
feeling: well-rested
music: the afters - beautiful love

Beautiful Love is the theme song for 8th & Ocean, this mtv series about models. I haven't caught a single episode ever since uni started. The season's prolly ended, I wouldn't know, but I loved it while I had (access to) it. Beautiful bods, scandals, drama mama blow-ups... it's mtv at its best.

I haven't been so dilligent in blogging have I? So much for seeking solace in words. Then again, try being in a course that places this much focus on reading and writing; it'll probably put you off doing anything remotely related to words as well. Now this is bad. I thought I loved reading and writing! All that heavy reading's getting to me. Ecks.

For those who haven't bore the brunt of my gripes, here goes. My mid-term quizzes are scheduled for this coming week, and I've got a presentation plus two deadlines due some time these two weeks. Friends who have been silently cussing me for missing in action/ignoring your sms-es (which you shouldn't be doing in the first place), this is my extremely credible excuse. Things will get better come week of 25th September, for that's my supposed recess week. No chance for a quick getaway to some island, but anything would be a holiday amidst this chaos.

It's been quite a week in school.

There was Dance Sport on Tuesday where I learned the basic steps to the chacha. It's kinda weird dancing in such close proximity to my long-time friend YH, but it was fun once the awkwardness settled. While the other couples were dancing in straight lines, we somehow danced in circles, thus colliding several times into the poor dude behind me. Ecks. Haha! But it quite a hoot.

I can't quite remember what my other days were like exactly, 'cept that I managed to squeeze in a run with Silver on Thursday evening. We wanted to try out the 179 route, but took a wrong turn and ended up doing an entirely different route (one that involved cutting across fields haha) instead. And then I managed to steal away post-lecture on Friday morning for my own poolside escape. Managed a quick 12-lap swim before falling asleep in the mild sunshine. Met up with the gang for lunch before zipping over to Charmain's room for a quick gossip session.

Took a long bus ride home with Jason that very evening. Sitting on the bus and looking out as the day slipped into night is truly a simple pleasure. Kinda felt as if the bus was transcending time or something, but I'm over-romanticising I think. Finally got my dose of home-cooked food at night. Buah keluak, chap chye, fish tempera and carrot soup. Comfort, comfort.

I slept a good 12 hours, thus explaining why I'm still up now at 1:37 a.m. Ecks. I need my morning run tomorrow. Better go, better go. Night world!

Reel life.

Reel life.
feeling: reflective

When I started blogging about my internship at -insert name of magazine-, many of my chick-lit reading friends commented on how I reminded them of the protagonist in The Devil Wears Prada. I have thus awaited with bated breath to watch my life reflected in the movie. Well, it kinda did.

Similarity of sucky job scopes (very much involving juggling numerous shopping bags) aside, I could truly relate to how lost she felt in the world of fashion. I don't lust after labels, nor do I roll the names of fashion designers off my tongue. And I definitely am not one to go around blowing air kisses and going "muah muah". I spent my life harbouring an ideal which just didn't turn out the way I'd expected it to be. Sheer naivety.

I too felt the pressure of image, and I started toying with the idea of buying from the higher-end labels. So shallow; so not me; but oh so true. And then of course.. there was the thing about morphing into someone I didn't know anymore. I didn't hang around at -insert name of magazine again- long enough to lose myself, but I guess I'm going through a similar phase right now.

No time for details. My roomie's asleep before me for once!

Sleepier than I'd thought.

Sleepier than I'd thought.
feeling: energized
music: bachelor girl - i'm just a girl

I fought hard to keep my eyes open long enough to on the countless pages in front of me. It was a long battle won. I was finally done with my readings for tomorrow's journalism class. Seeing that I had time to spare before I was due to hit the trail with the girls, I succumbed to fatigue and laid my head upon my desk. All intentions of a two-minute shut eye vanished as sleep wrapped its comforting warms around me like a quilt and I dreamt dreams of cycling down long winding roads. Hushed whispers at the door nudged me out of my slumber. I'd fallen asleep at my desk for a good twenty minutes. I must have been way more exhausted than I thought!

The run's succeeded in jolting me out of sleepy mode, thankfully. Feeling the power in my legs and the comforting rhythm of synchronized breathing... working out is a pleasurable pain. Time to hit the showers before my night out. The Devil Wears Prada. A long awaited movie that nothing, especially thoughts of work, is gonna keep me from enjoying.

Cosmic fish they like to kiss

Cosmic fish they like to kiss
feeling: rushed
music: jason mraz - bella luna

Why do I feel compelled to blog a hurried entry every Sunday? My brother's coming by to pick me up in about an hour and I've yet to shower or gobble down my lunch. An extremely late lunch I know, but time's just been flying by me!

It's Shannon's birthday party tonight and I've finally matched an outfit to fit his blue dresscode. Not very impressive, but it'll have to do!

Morning suppers and piggy-back rides.

Morning suppers and piggy-back rides.
feeling: sleepy
music: jason mraz - bella luna

It's been a long week. Then again, time seemingly passes that bit slower when one lacks sleep. Charlene and Charmain both dropped me messages asking if I was okay after bumping into me at the bus-stop. Guess the zonked-out look doesn't quite agree with me, haha.

The gang has been suppering alot of late! Prata and tehs on Monday, late dinner/supper after dancing on Tuesday, and noodles at a different coffeeshop yesterday. We are a hungry (read: greedy) lot.

Last night's supper was the most eventful of all. Everybody was on a high (from the impending weekend I assume) and it involved robbed slippers, a forced piggy-back ride and an overdose of laughter. The pseudo scandalous piggy-back ride has been caught on many of our camera phones, but the actual names of Mr. S and Ms. C will be omitted, for now.

My running plan finally started this week! Hit the trail with Erwin on Monday evening, and once again with Ede and Silver on Wednesday night. A girl's gotta do something to counter the effects of those late-night suppers no?

Caught up with Jem over coffee last night and he's still going on and on about how life-altering and impactful the convo we had was. Hmmm. But it was good to see him as always. He's prolly one of the few whom I feel really understands when I speak of school related stress.

Closer friends would prolly know about the 'quarter life crisis' i went through earlier in the week... all that mambo jumbo about not finding my center and all. Well, the solution's dawned on me unknowingly and I've unconsciously put it into practice. How's this for self-enlightenment?

Ting Yi has just reminded me of our mid-term test date, which is way nearer than I'd expected it to be. Ecks. But I'm not gonna fret. I'm not gonna do anything too stressful to dampen my weekend dedicated to recharging. Hitting the beach for a run and chill session with Lanxi tomorrow morning. How I've missed that when I'm stuck with NTU's urban jungle trails!

Check out the lyrics of Jason Mraz's Bella Luna. It's a little Jack Johnson-ish, and it's been on repeat mode the whole night. Makes me wanna take off for an exotic beach getaway, like the Bora Bora resort Belinda Jones wrote about in The Paradise Room. How about that Ceci???

Mystery the moon
A hole in the sky
A supernatural nightlight
So full but often right
A pair of eyes a closing one
A chosen child in golden sun
A marble dog that chases cars
To farthest reaches of the beach and far beyond into the swimming sea of stars

The cosmic fish they love to kiss
They're giving birth to constellations
No riffs and oh no reservation
If they should fall you get a wish or dedication
May I suggest you get the best
For nothing less than you and I
Let's take a chance as this romance is rising over before we lose the lighting
Oh bella bella please
Bella you beautiful luna
Oh bella do what you do
Do do do do do

You are an illuminating anchor
Of leagues to infinite number
Of crashing waves and breaking thunder
Tiding the ebb and flows of hunger
You're dancing naked there for me
You expose all memory
You make the most of boundary
You're the ghost of royalty imposing love
You are the queen and king combining everything
Intertwining like a ring around the finger, of a girl
I'm just a singer, you're the world
All I can bring ya
Is the language of a lover
Bella luna, my beautiful beautiful moon
How you swoon me like no other

May I suggest you get the best
Of your wish may I insist
That no contest for little you or smaller I
A larger chance set, but all them may lie
On the rise, on the brink of our lives
Bella please
Bella you beautiful luna
Oh bella do what you do
Bella luna
My beautiful beautiful moon
How you swoon me like no other, oh oh oh

Conflicts.

Conflicts.
feeling: vexed.
music: john mayer - not myself

University life's a bigger transition than I'd thought it would be. I've been so busy keeping myself afloat in this sea of madness, I'm losing track of my goals and ambition. Once in a very long while, traces of my initial drive surface, only to be submerged by the waves of distraction. I started this new phase with a clear enough intention of how I wanted my life to be like but it seems like I'm on the highway towards the other end. Hopefully I'll find my way back to shore with time.

Caught up with Jem a bit over MSN yesterday and he said that I seem to having a whale of a time here at NTU. I don't think he's far from the truth but the initial hype seems to be fading, just as I'd expected it to.

Hostel life detaches me from life outside campus. There are so many people, people who keep me grounded, who I've been neglecting. My family, Jason, Ceci, Fagan, Marc... And I totally forgot about Ken's as well as my bitch's birthday. I'd really wish to spend way more time and attention than I do now on them all, but I know that I am already spreading myself a little thin.

"Take time off to be alone or something... swim, read a book..." Fagan just told me that. How apt. I'm really in need of some me-time, and I think my required doses of such times are slightly higher than most. I miss hanging out with Fagan. I haven't seen him in over a month I think! Anyway, he's being a sweetie, offering to commute all the way down to my obscure location sometime next week. Things are starting to look up. I need a dose of Fagan's logic!

My temper's gone wonky. Mood swings and what-nots are taking their toll. Had a chat with Ede, my roomie, earlier. It's surprisingly easy confiding in people I realised. Ting Yi has just reminded me that I am not alone.

Anyway, Ede and I are having a convo on msn. (I know, what the hell?) She said something stupid and I replied, "ROFL".
Ede (turning over to speak to me): You never roll.

HAHA! I'm so gonna be a walking panda tomorrow. Night world.

Keep running, keep holding my hand.

Keep running, keep holding my hand.
music: lea salonga - even santa fell in love

Me: -relating dream about bombs-
Aunt: I think it's a sign you shouldn't travel.
Me: I've got school and anyway, how soon is soon?
Aunt: Where are you intending to go in December?

Just like that. Knowing that my family accepts my gallivanting ways is really liberating.

Anyway, I've been too caught up griping and complaining, I haven't properly blogged about what I've been up to the entire week.

Thursday was my day off from school and I took the opportunity to meet up with Lanxi for some shopping. Actually, 'some' is an understatement. We were lugging around so many bags, sales assistants started smiling at us and commenting, "shopping spree?"

With achy legs (and a near-empty wallet), I headed down to meet Jason to catch The Break-Up. The movie wasn't exceptionally good, but I felt that it was an honest enough representation of real life. Headed back to hall, rushed to type out some project work, then went out suppering with Cheryl, Daph and Erwin.

I was supposed to hit the pool with the girls on Friday after class, but they were all feeling kinda tired. I was rather lazy and happy to skip the workout too actually, haha! I was content hanging out in my room and really talking to a good friend. We used to share such deeper conversations until school started and our chats veered towards the superficial.

Friday was date night with Ceci whom I hadn't seen in ages. Only two weeks actually, but we're used to meeting up more often than that. Had dinner in a so-so cafe with sucky desserts and even worse service, and we caught the ultimate of bimbotic chick flicks - Love Wrecked. It was as cheesy as a pop-ish movie can be, though there were definitely swoon-worthy moments that left us going, "awww..." together with the rest of the audience.

Hit the pool with the boys today, though there wasn't much catching-up. Zipped home, lunched and showered, then spent the rest of the day with Jason. Has it been three years already?

Here I am, an hour and a half past the bedtime I'd set for myself. Better go, I wanna go for a run in the morning before the sun gets too scorching. And I've gotta get back to school early to clean my mess of a room. Ecks. Night world.

Take me away.

Take me away.

I spent a lazy morning by CH's pool with CH and Ken, though I'm not sure 'lazy' is an apt description of my days recently. Even as I lounged on the sun-chair, my mind was reeling with the things I had to complete before my afternoon out and about.

Life has been so hectic of late. Tons of readings, research and what-nots are waiting for me to deal with, yet I can't seem to ever finish them all. It's quite like poly life, only way busier. And I am not even involved in a CCA. I haven't read a book or even a magazine in ages, nor have I watched MTV. Social activities on the weekend are starting to feel like obligations and I don't ever like feeling this way.

I know I really need to spend some time with myself and find my centre. No work-related stuff. Nothing. Just a day, or an afternoon even, doing nothing.

Better yet, somebody bring me. Take me away to a place where time stands still.

Double standards.

Talking in riddles.
music: the quiet of the night.

Ain't it funny how life turns out? Things I'd agonized over to find a solution to are suddenly no longer an issue. And I'm missing the agony. Things which I'd predicted to be a joy are suddenly awkwardly painful. And I don't remember the joy.

I'm so afraid I may turn into you.

One stop south of paradise.

One stop south of paradise.
music: boz scaggs - miss riddle

My house keys are starting to feel unfamiliar. When I'm back home for the weekends, I come up with my hostel room key each time I grope around my purseful of keys. Hostel life definitely ain't as luxurious as life back at home but I'm enjoying the freedom and independence that comes with it. It's nice to be fussed over every once in awhile, but I like having my own space.

This post is from home actually. Tomorrow's tutorial was cancelled and I figured I very much missed my clean bed. For the unenlightened, my hostel room faces the very dusty PIE, and my roomie and I are definitely not the most diligent of cleaners, haha. Dust can never be good if those darn pimples playing checkers on my face are anything to judge by. I need to do something about this, and I need to do it soon.

My emotions and intuition have been at an all-time high these two weeks. Many a time I've been tempted to channel them all into a song, but I just haven't got the free time to sit down and write. They've come and gone though, dang.

I'd better take full advantage of my night back home and get some shut-eye before midnight. I swear my body clock's gone haywire ever since I started hall life. Looking forward to a good run in the morning (would have hit the beach for the run but my kaki's got classes till noon) before meeting Lanxi in town for a spot of retail therapy and Jason for a movie.

Note: Pass Jason a dollar for the shoes he bought me. I know, my superstitions drive many crazy.

Night world.

Pardon my grammar; i'm really tired.

Pardon my grammar; I'm really tired.
music: ryan cabrera - true

The weekend's passed by in yet another blur of events. Erwin's dinner on Friday night was a pretty laidback affair. Dinner at this beach shack along the beach, after which a bunch of us headed down to the coffee club for a cuppa.

I think I've played a tad too much through the week. A whole lotta stuff was waiting for me to settle over the weekend and I was really quite tempted to hole myself in my room on Saturday to set up the Mac, settle the rebate forms and do whatever I had to. I finally understand how difficult it can be juggling time between oved ones and impending work. Balance balance balance.
Anyway, work took a backseat like it should and I spent the afternoon with Jason before we joined Kelly, Xinkai and Mich C at Movies at the Padang in the night. It was a Saturday well spent I thought. I had my workout in the morning, some alone time with my boyfriend in the afternoon and a picnic in the evening with friends.

I obviously didn't get any work done last night and I was tempted to hole up in my room this morning. Then again, I hadn't had a meal with my folks in the whole week, thus to brunch with them it was. Which I'm glad I took the time out for.

I don't think I mentioned this... I'm blogging from my hall room! Which means my Macbook is all set up and connected and all. Woohoo.

Sleep's beckoning. Night world.

P.s. Will blog about the CS Homecoming. Extremely inspiring.
