Like Grassy Meadows and Clear Blue Skies

Like Grassy Meadows and Clear Blue Skies

My bitch will be so proud of me today. She has been bugging me for years to inject colour into my wardrobe, and I achieved that this morning! I'm wearing a grass green spaghetti top and a baby blue sarong skirt (my inspiration for the title), and miracles of all miracles, they match! Definitely an alternative to my usual pairing of white/black tops with this sarong skirt. :)

I've been fairly fortunate these two days. Mr. Ram gave me a lift to the office yesterday, and BH gave me one today, just as I was about to sprint for the shuttle bus. You know the saying, "the nearer you stay, the more you'll be late"? It is SO true, especially for me. Haha.

Well, it's finally Friday. Time seems to pass so quickly, yet so slowly. After today, it'll be officially 3 months to the end of my internship. Ah, speaking of ends, it's Adel's last day today, and come next Friday, it'll be BH's, Douglas' and Mark's. I'd definitely miss all the lunch-time nonsense, but there's always Roger, our catwalk model. I'll post up the pictures when I have the time and urge to use the computer at home, haha. Robin's giving our souvenirs from his trip to Bali.. I got a pretty purple sequinned box. Nice!

Went to the Clarke Quay Food Fiesta on Wednesday - nothing fantastic actually, but I got to try the renowned Hooters wings. Not bad at all. :) Proceeded on to Fisherman's Wharf for fish & chips thereafter. Yum.

Met Kenrick after his tanning session at Sentosa yesterday to go shopping for hair dye. Now my hair's coloured what Garnier calls Cashew Nut, but it's actually pretty toned down. Can barely see the colour unless I'm under the light or something. Will be off to Chinatown to attempt to purchase my facial wash, before meeting my family for dinner at the restaurant. Have this urge to on a cd shopping spree actually, haha!

I Wanna Soak Up the Sun

I Wanna Soak Up the Sun

Two of my colleagues are away on half-day today. Just as well, don't wanna pass my flu bug to them, haha. I've been having flu symptoms for several days, but what spurred me to pay the doctor a visit was a phenomenal burping process that start at 10 in the morning and went on all the way till 7 in the evening. 9 hours, what a feat. Especially since I don't burp, I fart. Haha!

Ah well, had to skip my run as it was pouring yesterday morning, and I couldn't do it today as I was hacking my lungs away. I had a really bad experience in Secondary 3 when I tried to run when I had a cough. Throughout the short 1.2km or so, I really thought I was gonna have an asthma attack.

It's been a pretty laidback day today. No deadlines due till Friday, and the inspiration to churn out a press release has yet to strike (if it ever does that is). Currently scouring the papers and tabloids for mention of Sentosa. Seems like there's yet another problem with the Discover space shuttle that took off yesterday. Sure hope it'll return to Earth safely.

Took a post-lunch walk on the beach today, and it was the first time in 1000 days I felt sun on my skin. FABULOUS. One day, one day, I'll bring my bikini to work. But I don't exactly look forward to feeling sticky and sandy back in the office post-beaching though. I'll give it some thought.
Went to see the bikini I've got my eye on as well, but was too lazy and full to try it on. Haha! Today is pay day.. so it'll be mine soon enough! :)

Coffeebean has opened an outlet on the island, yum. Now I can get a proper caffeine fix and not an unsatisfactory one from the (weird) pantry coffee.

Going to Clarke Quay's Food Fiesta with a couple of colleagues after work, and I'm bringing them to have Fisherman's Wharf for fish & chips first. I ought to be shot for having that for dinner, what with my sore throat and lack of exercise, but oh well, I only live once. =)

As Easy as Sunday Morning

As Easy as Sunday Morning

There, my attempt at capturing the famous scene from E.T. It's showing on tv now by the way, and I'm kinda doing a bad job of multi-tasking between blogging and watching the movie. (I'm getting abit worried 'cos ET looks like it's dying.) I vaguely remember liking that show as a kid, and seeing Drew Barrymore as a young girl serves as a reminder of how old the movie actually is.

I'm slowly getting back in touch with the world of tv. Did anyone catch Bring It On last night? Jesse Bradford is hot hot hot. That lopsided grin... I caught the movie with my Secondary 2 class after our chalet back in 2000. Man. Is this a weekend of reminiscing? Lol.

Last night's filming didn't quite go as planned. Why am I not surprised? I must be a clairvoyant! Enough with the sarcasm, and I'm not going to go into it. And you know what, one of the writers from my favourite magazine, the one that I actually plan to do an internship at, was part of the film crew. Well, if she personifies the environment, then I'd better start asking myself some questions if that is really what I want.

So you see, last night's filming screw-ups were miniscule as compared to the implications of that fateful meeting on my future.

Going Solo

Going Solo

To be fair, I shouldn't be procrastinating about having to return to work on a Saturday, for it is only my 2nd time working on a weekend ever since SIP started. Then again, I'm feeling kinda cranky. Ecks. I was actually at Sentosa earlier this morning, attempting to cure my flu with some sun therapy, but a HEAVY downpour ruined my plans.

Will be meeting a film crew in about an hour's time on the island. Sigh. Hope there won't be any logistical screw-ups this time around, 'cos I suck at directions. And it's a one man show for me tonight.. no Pat, Eileen or Ani in the office to call in case of trouble. Hmm. I'm very much inclined to curl up in bed with Peach, Hokey Pokey and Racky.

Ran 2.5km 4 times this week, and my legs are feeling the ache. Yeah yeah, I'm getting a little finicky about the Realrun. Tsk.

Will be uploading random pictures till it's time to get my ass off to work. Will post a less-angsty entry soon. I'm just having the blues.

Paul McCartney - Every Night

Every night I just wanna go out
Get out of my head
Every day I don't wanna get up
Get out of my bed
Every night I want to play out
And every day i wanna do-ooh-ooh
But tonight I just wanna stay in
And be with you
And be with you.

Every day I lean on a lamp post
I'm wasting my time
Every night I lay on a pillow
I'm resting my mind
Every morning brings a new day
And every night that day is throuough
But tonight i just wanna stay in
And be with you
And be with you

I chanced upon my MTV Unplugged cd (I'd actually forgotten I owned one), and I'm having a whale of a time listening to it today. Just got back awhile ago from a pretty satisfying dimsum lunch at Harbourfront with Pat and Eileen. Pity they didn't have egg tarts though - I love them. Collected the photos I sent for developing yesterday as well.. $1 per piece for a 2R size picture, blackmail I say. But I paid up anyways.

It's been another day of facilitating media requests. Seems like I'd have to come to work on Saturday night. Sigh. Wanna be at Jazz by the Beach actually, but oh well, duty calls. :/

Had dinner at my dad's restaurant last night. Man, I ate SO MUCH I could barely have breakfast this morning (the flourless chocolate cake sent me to Heaven), despite having gone for my morning run. Speaking of which, I paid streetdirectory.com 53 cents to calculate my distance... 2.6km. Tsk. Not good enough.

Meeting Fagan after work tonight. Think I'd better have a fruit salad for dinner or something. Yesterday's dinner and today's lunch is enough to make my kidneys go on overtime for the next 48 hours or something. And I can't wait for tomorrow's lunch at Sakae with the gang. We have yet to get together the whole week! (Well actually we did on Monday but I was too bogged down by the unreasonable film crew to eat my lunch, not to mention the former's company.)

Alright, back to the realities of work.

Inner Peace

Inner Peace

For the first time since I started my internship, I'm feeling the best feeling of all - inner peace. I'm no longer that big on airing my dirty laundry on the world wide web, but those close to me prolly know what it was that was bothering me. Well, from now onwards, I'm taking no more of such worthless nonsense.

Perhaps it is because I've seen the obssession with SIP and watched it consume my love that I am wary and aware of what truly matters. There's no right or wrong here, just a difference in perception and values.

I think I'm too nice to the wrong people sometimes, and I am pretty mean to my Jason. Is this a personality disorder I'm having? Lol. Time to be bitchy to some, and loving to the one.

Asylum

Asylum

I made the understatement of the century when I compared last Friday to a madhouse. If that were a madhouse, today must have been ten asylums combined into one! Haha, not exactly the most poetic of comparisons, but this is the best I can come up with.

Most of the craziness came from a film crew with lotsa miscommunications and that led to three quarters of my lunchtime spent making countless phonecalls and troubling countless people with requests. Ah well, everyday is a day to learn, and today is certainly no exception.

I'm taking a bit of a breather before diving back into work. Coordinating media requests ain't an easy task honey. I can barely wait to head home, and if the weather and my cramps permit, I'll go on a distressing run. The kinks in my neck are killing me.

Photo Subjects Rejoice!

Photo Subjects Rejoice!

The long-suffering photography subjects of my koyak digital camera ("hold your smile for 30 seconds please") can now rejoice, for I have finally gotten myself a new one - the Olympus 4.0 megapixel weather proof digicam. And, I got it at quite a bargain to boot, $349 instead of the usual $599, at Harvey Norman's last day sale. I'm feeling pretty pretty satisfied.

Well, since I've gotten myself a new camera, I decided to get myself a new blogskin too. Don't question, it's girl-logic.

Went around my neighbourhood in the evening to test my new camera out (I was basically in the way of every jogger), and I realised that phototaking requires talent. I used to tell Jason that his pictures always turn out good 'cos he's got a good camera, but now I know better. Got a couple of pictures posted up. You figure which were taken using the new, and which were from the old. :)

Yesterday was my arty-farty day. Headed down to Arab St. with Justin and YH to check out Ambrosia. It's a pretty cool place with great ambience for chilling, I like. Took a really long (NDP practice) bus ride down to Sentosa for Jazz by the Beach, and though the whole setting was so fabulous I felt I was away at a beach resort in Malaysia or something, Jazzedelics wasn't quite my cup of tea. Ah well. Managed to catch up a bit with Fagan, Marc and gang as well, so all's good.

Time for bed, long week ahead.

Madhouse

Madhouse

It's been a busy day chock full of activities. It was a whole lot of admin from 8.30 in the morning till past 10. There was the whole elective and cds selection frenzy, as well as the rush to prepare and submit my OT claim form to HR.
Well, things didn't get any less hectic after the admin rush, for people whose emails I've been waiting for forever decided to email me at one shot, so it was a hell lot of following up to do. Then, there was the whole packing of Sentosa buses for the various medias. Hah! I can now say that I wrote Cheryl Fox a note. (Official, but still... lol.)

BH drove Adel, Marilyn and myself down to Pasir Panjang for a kway chap lunch. Pretty good I must say, and it felt nice to get out of the island for a change. Haha. Well, I'm taking a short breather before Aileen comes down for a newsletter meeting with me. It really is a MADHOUSE in here!

Anyway, last night was Interns' Night Out to Suntec with Adel, Boon How, Wee Heng, Yan Fen and Xiumin. We were stuck in BH's car for an hour for there was a terrible jam enroute to Suntec. By the time we plopped down at Kenny Rogers, we were FAMISHED. Lol. Went for a little shopping (what's new when you put me and Adel together) before settling down at Coffee Bean to continue our insane conversations. It was really really fun. :)

Has anyone seen Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" mtv? It's kinda romantic, like a English version of Turn Left, Turn Right, but less tacky I feel. Here are the lyrics:

Where is the moment when we need it the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue sky's faded to grey
They tell me your passion's gone away
And I don't need no carrying on

Stand in the line just ahead of the law
You're faking a smile with the coffee you go
You tell me your life's been way off line
You're falling to pieces every time
And I don't need no carrying on

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride

You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Well you need a blue sky holiday
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don't need no carrying on

You had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride

You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Sometimes the system goes on the blink and the whole thing it turns out wrong
You might not make it back and you know that you could be well oh that strong
Well I'm not wrong

So where is the passion when you need it the most
Oh you and I
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride

You had a bad day
You've seen what you like
And how does it feel for one more time
You had a bad day
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Alright, back to work. :)

Connection

Connection

This is surreal. Just when I posted a private entry on how much I missed him, a similar message all the way from Tekong appears on my handphone.

Just Be Yourself Mr. Beasley

Just Be Yourself Mr. Beasley

I just got back from an extremely unfufilling lunch at the Tourism Academy's canteen, and now, I've got ten more minutes of my lunchtime to waste. Pat's gone off to the pantry for lunch part 2, lol. Ah well. I've subjected myself to alot of Corrinne May and Missy Higgins these couple of days. It's partly due to the fact that I keep forgetting to bring my cds to the office and they've got websites with a live radio, but there is also something compelling about their voices which keeps me safe from claustrophobia.

The past week seems to have passed by so quickly, yet so slowly. Jason's no longer a phone call away, but this time apart makes us treasure time together much more. It's training us to be stronger on our own, but there are certainly times when I wish he's nearer. That probably attributes to my re-obssession with Corrinne May. It fools my mind into thinking he's that little bit nearer. :)

I did manage to spend quite abit of time with him when he booked out on Tuesday for graduation though. However, we gave in to exhaustion post-dinner and fell asleep, but that was alright.

Met up with Jane, Faggy and Marc to catch Fantastic Four last night. Had a hilarious pre-show dinner at Subway where we got really irritated with this counter staff. Post-show, we followed our impromptu urge to take neoprints. Haha. I'll prolly scan them in later at home or something. Caught up more at NYDC where Anitta was interning. Certainly a night with friends well spent.

Break's over.

Drinks to Drown the Monday Blues

Drinks to Drown the Monday Blues

It's been ten days without you in my reach,
and the only time I've touched you is in my sleep.
But time has changed nothing at all-
you're still the only one that feels like home
I've tried cutting the ropes,
tried letting go but
you're still the only one that feels like home
you're still the only one I've gotta love.

After a pretty monotonous Monday, Adel, Roger, Marc and I headed down to Cool Deck for our after-work drinks. Actually, the guys were the ones who were downing beer, whilst Adel and I went healthy and share some fruit yoghurt drink, lol.

Headed down to KFC at PS to satisfy our craving for chicken, but I think Adel and I satisfied our craving for shopping around. In the end, both the guys left us to our apprehension in front of the accessories stall. Lol.

Had a really nice chat with the salesgirl at Made with Love. Seems like we've got loads in common, and we stay pretty near to boot! Might just go wakeboarding with her someday. :) You know, sometimes you'd just now if you will "click", or not.

Tomorrow's Tuesday and I CAN'T WAIT 'cos Jason gets to come out of camp for his graduation. Which means I'll get to see him. Hallelujah!

I Just Want to Hear Those Sweet Words

Jason's mom called me this morning, and I could hear the longing in her words. My heart echoes the exact emotion. I used to leave my handphone buried deep inside my bag, but I carry it with me wherever I go nowadays, even to the toilet. (I leave it on the mirrored shelf.)

S Club 7 - I Really Miss You

I called you today just to hear you say
You were not around
When the message was through, though I wanted to
I couldn't make a sound

I wanna tell you the things I've seen
I wanna take you to where I've been
And I wish you were here with me
Don't you know

I really miss you - yes I do - yeah
I really miss you
Oh yeah I do

I'm writing to say I had a wonderful day
Hangin' with my friends
But the memory dies as the sun reach the skies
I'm alone again
I wanna tell you the weather is fine
When the night comes around you were on my mind
And I wish you were here with me
Don't you know

I really miss you - yes I do - yeah
I really miss you - yes I do - I miss you
I really miss you
Ohhhh yeah I do

I wanna tell you the things I've seen
I wanna take you to where I've been
And I wish you were here with me

Oh, don't you know
I really miss you - yes I do - yeah
